America is greatly blessed with the freedom and liberty that many men and women fought and died for. Recently in our nation’s history the fighting has been against those who have a vendetta against our nation and the freedom that we possess. What were you doing on 9/11 when tragedy struck and our part in the “War on Terror” began in earnest? That brutal attack on our Nation brought with it a surge of patriotism and in the months that followed we thanked our troops for their service in very open and public ways. We took pride in them and what they were doing to rid this world of terror.
Now more than 6 years later the war on terror has become little more than a side note on the evening news and at times less than a headline in the paper. In order to fight, our troops do not need us to bestow upon them glory and honor, but giving them this recognition increases their fervor and ignites a desire to do their job with the best of their ability.
So let us not forget our sons and daughters, moms and dads, sisters and brothers, who are right now fighting to rid our world of those who would continue to attack and terrorize our great nation. Let us support them in ways we can, with our prayers, time, money, and especially with our thoughts. Let us not forget that there are men and women fighting and if need be dying for our right to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
